[Eco-Materials] Turning Plastic Waste into Giant LEGOs! Fast and Green Construction

Statistics show that the world generates up to one billion tons of plastic waste every year, putting a massive burden on our planet. To solve this problem, a company named ByFusion has introduced an eco-friendly building block called "ByBlock".

The most amazing part of this technology is that it doesn't require complex washing or sorting, nor does it need any chemical additives. Through high-temperature steam and compression, it turns various plastic wastes into solid bricks that look just like LEGO blocks.

More Durable than Concrete and Faster to Build Each ByBlock weighs about ten kilograms. Not only is it fire-resistant and unbreakable when dropped, but it also has excellent load-bearing capacity—even a truck can drive over it. When building a house, it uses a "dry construction" method. This means no traditional cement or glue is needed. You simply secure the blocks with metal rods running through the base and interlock them top and bottom just like stacking blocks. It is said that this method can cut construction time in half!

[Editor MARS's View] Looking Forward to Real-World Implementation!

When we deal with industrial waste every day, watching materials ultimately having to be hauled to the incinerator, seeing this kind of technology brings up a lot of feelings.

Actually, technical concepts similar to ByBlock have been around for several years. But to be honest, the areas where they can truly be utilized are still extremely limited. After all, if these plastic bricks are to be used for large buildings, the stability of the "structural integrity" will always be a massive challenge.

However, what if we change our mindset? Suppose these plastic bricks are only used to build a single-story public toilet or a simple rest unit in a park. That would absolutely be a huge plus!

Having good technology is one thing; successfully implementing it is another. I really hope that in the future, capable people and resourceful teams will take the lead to truly put these great ideas into practice in our environment!
